I just watched a German film (with English subtitles) called Fack ju Goehte (Suck Me Shakespeer auf English) and it was really good. It's a modern comedy and I can highly recommend it to anyone who likes feel good, funny movies and doesn't mind a bit (okay, a lot) of swearing.

The last one I saw was Mad Max: Fury Road. And I'm astounded at how much I fell in love with this film when I'm not really into the genre. It was incredible.

(Suck Me Shakespeer auf English) I love how you mixed languages! That usually happens to me when I'm too tired to think straight, and it somehow is great to see that it happens to other people as well. Last movies I watched were "An Army Story" and "The Gymnast". Both sound very cheesy in their descriptions but are surprisingly good. Aaaand I like the body control of the protagonist

That usually happens to me when I'm too tired to think straight, and it somehow is great to see that it happens to other people as well. I do it all the time in my head, but I usually manage to stick with just English when speaking out loud (though, really, it would be so much simpler for me if everyone spoke Denglish!) I saw Inside Out last week. There were some funny moments, but overall it I wasn't that impressed (I found it cliched and predictable). My family all loved it though.

I saw American Ultra at the movies recently and it was really good! Probably not for everyone, but I definitely enjoyed it.

I just watched The Age of Adaline. I really recommend it because Blake Lively is queen!

I recently saw two movies - Bill, a comedy movie about the "lost years" of Shakespeare by the cast of Horrible Histories, and Spectre. Both were good

Has anyone seen the new Hunger Games movie yet? Worth going to theatres or wait for it to come out on Netflix or something?

I have seen Mockingjay Part 2. It was my least favourite of all the movies in the series (which is possibly because Mockingjay is my favourite book and so the one I most wanted them to do well), but it was still good and I definitely think it worth seeing at the theatres. Just because it's a big action movie and I feel, as they are designed for the big screen, it's worth seeing it at least once in the theatre.

I just watched The Graduate (I dunno, I've been feeling like watching those vintage movies lately). The soundtrack was really odd - I mean, S&G had happier songs, so I'm not sure why the film people used Sounds of Silence of all songs in the closing credits and felt the need to repeat Scarborough Fair four times. Still, it wasn't a bad film.

Has anyone seen Hotel Transylvania 2? I thought it was adorable and way better than I expected, since sequels can be terrible.

I'm on another documentary kick, in preparation for the amazing documentary festival hosted in my city in April. I've watched Jesus Camp, Twinsters (SO CUTE), The Search for General Tso and now I'm watching Advanced Style.

Last night I went to the monthly film screening by the local German club. We were meant to watch a comedy called "Frau Muller muss weg" (Frau Muller must go), the play of which I read last year. But it didn't work, so we watched a 2012 film/documentary called "Vergiss mein nicht", about a woman with Alzheimer's, her life and her family. It was really well done, but also really sad.

I've now seen both Captain America: Civil War and X-Men: Apocalypse. Both are amazing but I definitely preferred Apocalypse.
I've been wondering though. Where do the X-men movies stop being in the same universe as the original three and become Reboots? Up until now I've felt that they're all the same canon universe, but Apocalypse has me wondering. The canon no longer fits, even though Wolverine himself is fairly consistent (especially being Hugh Jackman in all of them, same goes for Kitty being Ellen Page in Days of Future Past).

The most recent movie I saw was The Intern starring Anne Hathaway and Robert de Niro. I actually feel in love with the movie - it's one of those feel-good ones with a lot of humour and drama.

I saw The BFG at the cinema this week. It was really good! Good to hear! I was going to see that, but I was a bit wary of having the book ruined for me. How true to the tone of the book did you find it? Instead I opted to see The Conjuring 2 with family and spent a quarter of it covering my eyes or looking at the aisle. But I enjoyed it more than I expected.

I haven't read the book of The BFG in about 2 decades and, as such, have no memory of it, which means I a) went into the film with no expectations and b) unfortunately cannot answer your question! But I can say it was visually very beautifully done and I thought the BFG was just gorgeous (personality) and I really liked his and Sophie's interactions. I particularly enjoyed the latter part of the film, when they visit Buckingham Palace. And, having just now read the plot summary on Wikipedia, I can say the film mostly follows the (main) plot of the book, with the biggest divergence being the very end.

I can't wait to see it!
I saw Finding Dory. So good! Also, if you're going to go see it, stick around until after the credits... Amazing cut scene at the end!

I think the last film I saw in cinema was, uh, The Force Awakens? I haven't been to the cinema in a while! But I am hoping to catch Finding Dory before it leaves cinema.
I recently watched The Thin Man at home, and would absolutely recommend it. It's really funny, and beautifully filmed. I really love what films do with light and dark when they're filmed in black and white; there are some shots you absolutely can't do in colour, and I definitely tend to notice cinematography in black and white movies more.

I went to the movies yesterday and saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and it was really good, way better than I expected. The plot was actually quite complex and long, and it was also quite interesting as the villain or antagonist (I meant Credence, not Grindelwald) wasn't typically evil.
I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but it's still an entertaining movie.

That's good to hear Vala - I was sort of on the fence about seeing Fantastic Beasts (though I would've watched it eventually...). I've recently seen Arrival, which was amazing. I don't think I've ever heard a cinema so deathly quiet! I also saw Nocturnal Animals, which was good, though I was expecting something more from a certain plot point.

Ah, I loved Fantastic Beasts so much! But I'm curious to see how it will match up with the HP canon, as it seems slightly off at the moment.

I found Fantasic Beasts to be interesting rather than good, if that makes sense? It was the first JKR I had experienced without reading the book first (and by book in this I mean screenplay, not the textbook), and I felt like I would get more out of it if I had read the screenplay.
It did feel different to HP. Not bad, but different - there was lots of wand whipping, and friends pointed out that they were all adults, too. I did enjoy it though!

I love that they're all adults actually! I think it's great to see life outside of Hogwarts. Is it sad of me to hope we get a present day scene where Newt meets Luna? I mean, she does marry his grandson.

I went to the movies yesterday and saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and it was really good, way better than I expected. The plot was actually quite complex and long, there were several stages in it before it went to the 'saving New York' phase, which was also quite interesting as the villain wasn't typically evil. I really recommend it for anyone, even if you aren't a Harry Potter fan (like I) as it's an entertaining movie. I'm glad everyone liked Fantastic Beasts. I've been wanting to see it but was rather wary because I haven't been too keen on the HP movies since PS came out. I think the last movie I saw was Sully, which I didn't mind.
