Seek hiiiii!!!!! Theses tend to do that... I was just thinking the other day that you'd been very quiet lately and I should ask you how it was going.

Seek , what's your thesis topic in one sentence? But I know the feeling, guys. Work ate my life this year too.

"I wish I knew." That's not a good sign, right? I've gone through 4 topic changes already! Okay, maybe this: "How scientific understanding works and relates to what we think of as good scientific explanations."

Choosing a thesis topic is tough. My supervisor essentially chose my one for me (I chose the broad topic I wanted to cover and he suggested some topics within that, including the one I actually did). Which, as it turned out, was a fine topic, but I really should have put more thought into it myself and chosen both a more specific/narrow topic (I only had about 10--11K words to work with!) and one I was more personally invested in. So good luck Seek! I feel your pain!

My office is down two staff members, so busy. Also, perfecting appeals is hell. NINETEEN FACTUM DRAFTS LATER.
Thankfully, I work in a fairly relaxed office, so everyone knows what it means when I start playing really depressing music in my office.

Ooh, are you in the bridal party Idleness ? And good luck Seek ! Your academic accomplishments continue to amaze me. Also, glake, advise me: I'm considering availing myself of the uni printers and giving the majority of my family members sets of framed botanical prints for Christmas. I was thinking of personalising them to each household's interests -- so European herbs for the French homeopathist; local maritime life for the diving enthusiast, et al. Do you think this is a good idea or is it awful? Atm I genuinely can't tell..

Nah, my responsibilities are limited to eating, drinking, and revelry, which is just fine with me. Sounds like a good idea for Christmas presents to me.

Thanks for the votes of confidence guys. I think I'll probably stay on the fence until I do a mock up, and actually then get the chance to see how they come out

I have only today and tomorrow to get through before I can go off on holidays and I so do not want to be at work right now. Argh.

I've decided to reorganise my books *before* I move. I may live to regret this.
But I want to pack them by shelf and so I want the shelves to be right, so it's easier to unpack at the other end!

I feel you Idlesse! This is my last day off and I've really enjoyed not going to work for 12 days straight! Work will be a rude shock, I think. Hope everyone had a good break/Christmas/start to 2016/whatever you celebrate

Broken routines meant I left my phone at home by my bed today, which was annoying. It wasn't such a bad day as I feared (though getting up before 9am sucked), but I'd still have happily taken another week if I didn't have so much work I need to cram into January... and my consolation for that is that I'm going to Japan for two and a half weeks in February.

I feel you Kitsunerei. So much to do. And not helped at all by how short staffed we are.
Also apparently I can have hot water or a working bike. Not both.

Well, week two back at work after the break and I feel like a seasoned veteran. My colleagues dragged themselves back into the office on Monday, and they've been mourning their afternoon naps and struggling to remember what the hell they were doing before the break. I got all of that out of my system last week, so I looked comparatively switched-on!

We have new lawyers at my workplace. I get to teach them all about poverty law. It's very exciting but I can't wait until they're up to speed so that I can focus on my own work!

Today is a good day!
I was informed by my boss today that the woman who has been making me miserable at work has resigned! She finishes next Friday, and I now only have to deal with her for five more days! As an even better plus, the boss gave me Monday off and Tuesday is a public holiday!
I haven't felt this good in over a year. The weight that has magically just lifted from my shoulders is unreal.

It's consistently over 30c where I live atm and I am not dealing. My flat's not insulated much less air conditioned and yesterday I inadvertently fell asleep for 4 hours, just because it got so hot inside. On the bright side, I got a nutribullet for Christmas, so I've been making gazpacho. And frozen banana ice cream

Contrary to max, where I live it is ranging between -5C (GOOD DAYS) and -25C (BAD DAYS).
I wish we got a snow storm so I didn't have to go to work. I could use a snow day or three.
I just spent $200 on new winter boots last week. Great buy, because the warm/cold thing keeps making slush. It's been a pretty mild winter though - fewer extreme cold warnings than usual.

Feeling it max, it's been hot overnight lately here, so it's been really hard to sleep. I'm over it. kitsunerei88 I can't even imagine that kind of cold!

Florida this time of the year is apparently just warm enough to make you want to do outdoor things, but not actually warm enough to do so. Also, it is hot during the week and cold/rainy on weekends--go figure.
However, I have not shoveled any snow yet this winter, so I ca deal. Also, it is suppose to be high 60s (F) this weekend, so I may just go to the beach anyway.

You people with your high 60s and your subzero temps.
It is 10:30 at night and I am melting ice cubes through my hair to stave off a heat headache.

I am really over not having proper internet. I miss hanging out on the boards! Might have to get myself a dongle or something.
