Omg have fun Idleness ! Safe + happy travels I myself am currently in war mode, which is to say I am sitting on my bed, waiting for every mosquito which has insinuated its way into my bedroom to reveal itself so I can kill them all before they start to try to feast on me overnight. Mercifully, the temp was as low as 26 today. Such a relief. And it's definitely cooler tonight! So happy.

It's been an unusually warm winter this year. Last year, we got sent home a little more often for snow squalls - same with the year before that. Right now it is ABOVE ZERO and almost all the snow is melted! I feel really, really awful for all the people who bought full-season ski passes because that was such a bad buy for this winter. There were only about 4 weeks of good snow and normally we see snow through to March.
One of my clients is in gaol and the letters he writes to me are hilarious. I don't handle criminal cases, so I rarely am in this situation.

So Emergency Rooms are fun!
Monday morning at 4:30 am I woke up with pain in my stomach that wouldn't go away. I'd had the pain before months ago but I had eventually gone back to sleep and when I woke up again the pain was gone.
By 6:30 I hadn't gone to sleep and the pain was still there. My other half, running on very little sleep himself, was worried it was my appendix and drove me to the closest ER.
6 hours later it was determined that I have a gallstone, and since this is not the first time I've felt the pain it means my gallbladder will need to come out :/. They initially were going to take it out then and there, but the pain subsided so they sent me home with a referral letter to have it taken out in the next few weeks. The pain was caused by the stone getting stuck in the neck of my gallbladder, and the pain went away when it moved. Of course, now that it's been inflamed there is a little bit of pain almost all the time. Hopefully I can get it taken out before it gets stuck again!

Gravitational waves! W00t! We're even covering them in lecture--my lecturer just dropped our lectures on stars to do gravitational waves instead!

I love that you're so excited Seek! It's great when you get to learn about something you like. The new lady started at my work on Monday. She seems really nice so far.

Weekend time! This week felt sooo long.
Edit: Apparently a guy from the internet company is coming to install something on Tuesday! So I might have internet at home next week (and so can stop carting my laptop to my parents' house to use their internet every weekend)!

Japan was great! I think my highlight was whisky tasting in a tiny little town in Hokkaido called Yoichi, and our stay at an Airbnb in Seki. My partner's highlights were probably the Meguro Parasite Museum in Tokyo and the Mazda car factory in Hiroshima! Also, all of the food. And bullet trains. Ooh, and convenience store creme caramel desserts. Our Qantas flight attendant had the thickest Australian accent I've heard in a while haha. But she was cool; I like anyone who gives me an extra little mini bottle of shiraz. But it's all a distant memory now... I'm well back into the slog of work.

I was a bit confused at "the thickest Australian accent I've heard in a while"... and then remembered you were from New Zealand. I can't brain today, apparently Yes, it always does feel like a dream after a few weeks, doesn't it?

Australian accents do get thicker depending on where a person is from though. I bought a new laptop yesterday. It's so pretty and not-broken .

Ha, I didn't ask her where she was from. But we saw some walking Australian stereotypes at Auckland Airport. Mum, dad and daughter, all beach blonde and over tanned orange-tinged skin. If that wasn't enough, I think it was also the clothes and the way they held themselves. I didn't hear them speak so I can't say if the accent matched the image, but the flight was going to Brisbane so that might be some indication. I got the first day of training a new IT system out of the way today. I'm exhausted and I don't know how I'm going to do three weeks of it.

Two weeks of training done, one more to go. I've surprised myself by being a paragon of patience and good cheer, even though some of the people I've been training possess the dreaded combination of stupid and bad attitude.
Bring on the long weekend!

I am very tired, even though I just had a four day weekend... Doesn't help that work is stressful at the moment. Clearly I need a cup of tea and an early night (I can tackle whatever is making my anxiety flair up when I'm better rested.)

Phew. Thesis will be due tomorrow, which is one load off my back. (Had a physics exam on Monday.)
So, what's up? I've been off for a bit, mostly because my computer and four harddrives crashed, which means that signing in to GL was the last thing on my mind, but I had some time today, so I'm popping in to see what's happening!

Went to the Million Paws Walk today. I'd never even heard of some of the breeds people brought! And I kept searching for every Golden there (saw a gorgeous white one - they're the most perfect dogs ever), and would've been happy to just sit there for hours and pet and greet all the dogs.
Our dog had fun - he was really sick of walking by the end of it, but he seemed to enjoy it.

We forgot about the Million Paws Walk Not that our dog would have coped well - his paws have been sorer than usual lately and he bled through one of his boots yesterday, poor thing. Anyway, there was Eurovision to watch
