Good news for all fans of the Beka Cooper series - Bloodhound's publishing date has been moved up from April 28th to April 14th.
To those who might not know what's planned for Beka's life, here's a little hint (thanks to an ARC I received as a present a few months back)!
Now in her second year, Beka is tearing through partners. No one wants to work with her because of her serious nature. But bad fortune finds Tunstall, and while he's laid up, Beka gets an interesting assignment with Clary Goodwin.
A few interesting coins have shown up in Corus - they look like silver nobles, until the surface is scratched. Someone is counterfeiting money in Tortall, and Goodwin and Cooper are assigned to ferret out the person behind it all.
They discover early on that the coins are coming from Port Caynn, so they are sent to work with the Dogs from the other city - something the fellows aren't too happy about. Beka no longer has the direct protection from the Lord Provost, nor does she know the Port Caynn Court of the Rogue.
But one unexpected companion Beka has is a scent hound by the name of Achoo, who's determination is only matched by Beka's.
***
If you liked Terrier, you will definitely like Bloodhound. Tammy has kept the diary format, explaining that Beka has resumed chronicling her life because her superiors think her reports have gotten shoddy.
She still has her group of friends, though she's a little detached while she's in Port Caynn. But, being Beka, there are always friends in the forms of pigeons and dust spinners, wherever she goes.
The mystery isn't quite as personal to her, this time around, though things definitely reach a personal level. We learn a bit about Goodwin's past, as well as some interesting political and historical tidbits about Corus and Port Caynn.
I really enjoyed this one - probably more than I liked Terrier, to be honest, and I can't wait to see the official version without notes to the editor jumbled in!
