Title: Empty Rating: G Summary: The Baron of Pirate's Swoop returns to Corus after a year's absence.
George tried hard not to show his tension. He kept his gaze on his meal while listening to the familiar sounds of the Queen’s soft voice and Jonathan’s diplomatic conversation with Imrah of Legann. He briefly wondered where Numair and Daine were, but quickly dismissed the thought as soon as Keladry of Mindelan entered the mess hall.
He observed the young lass who had been part cause for his wife’s estrangement from the capital—and his consequently also. It was only Jon’s stiff enquiry about his Champion that pulled George out of his thoughts and back to his surroundings. George was honest in his answer and didn’t miss the grimace that shadowed the King’s face for a long second.
While George could sympathize, a part of him reveled in punishing his friend for being the reason why there was, yet again, an empty spot between them both.

Ooh! This is really great. I especially like the last line and the way you have George blaming Jon for the absence of his wife. Fascinating.

Thanks for the feedback gals! @ Imogen: Yerp I love that old triangle. Throw in Thayet, and there's a whole load of epic drama (or humour, if you want to flip the coin).
