Notes From Admin

Wow! What a busy two months we’ve had since we first opened! Where to start?

Staff

First of all, I’d like to thank all the staff for all their hard work and dedication to the board. I want to specially thank Isha, who has slaved away getting all the communities falling under the Goldenlake banner in shape, including our resources site and wiki. I also want to congratulate Rosie and Lisa on having the maturity to not use the Emergency Admin account to ban each other – good work, girls! A special nod should also go to our Welcome Wagon mods May and Lanna, who have a knack for being online the precise moment a newbie joins. We are in the process of bringing some new staff on board, so keep your eye out for new Assistant Moderators around the board (and don’t cause too much trouble for them while they’re in their trial period!)

Community

Oh my god, 100 members... when we started this, I thought we’d get maybe 10 members (all from my Livejournal friends list, pitying me). And don’t forget everyone over at our Livejournal communities Piercefic, Pierceart, Fief_Goldenlake and GoldenlakeAdult. We have a great group of Goldenlakers, with a mix of fandom oldies and newbies.

Projects

For those of you who haven’t noticed, we have quite a few ongoing projects at the moment: our Fanfiction.net C2 archiving project ‘The Goldenlake Library’ headed by Rosie; The Resources Site headed by Isha; The Goldenlake Tamora Pierce Wiki headed by Isha (100 articles and counting), and of course, our awesome fanzine Giantkiller, run by editor Rojo. If you’re interested in getting involved in any of those, make sure to contact the staff member in charge.

Competitions and Exchanges

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Goldenlake Drabble Tournament, it was a huge success! Now that the Drabble Tournament is officially over, we can turn our gaze to (and start plotting for) our planned competitions and exchanges. We have a fic exchange scheduled for July/August (possibly with Steelsings), the Peculiar Pairings Fic-a-thon during the month of October, and Piercefic running throughout December 2009/January 2010!

Roger

Oh come on, Roger gets a special mention! My campaign to brainwash the fandom with Roger love has been rather successful - Roger fic has almost doubled in population. I’ve heard Roger-love is reaching endemic proportions (watch out, Swine Flu!). Keep up the fantastic work everybody!

Giantkiller

A special thanks to Rojo, Isha, Rosie, Ana and Iva, who all helped put our first issue together! I hope you all enjoy it
