Title: Fair Maiden Rating: PG-13 for sexuality and violence. Word Count: 29 Summary: Roald appreciates the courtly love on display at tournaments. Notes: Written for mistrali’s “Maiden” prompt. Thanks to mistrali for the inspiration. Fair Maiden Roald hated the violence of tournament jousting, but he could applaud the romance behind the victor presenting a fair maiden with a rose as tribute to her springtime beauty.

Awww. I love the juxtaposition here between Roald’s dislike of violence and his romantic nature.

mistrali, thank you as always for the kind words and for reading! This piece was definitely an interesting one for me to write since I'd never thought about how Roald would see tournaments, but reflecting on it, I decided that his peaceful side would disapprove of the violence of tournaments, but his gentle side would also be a fan of the romantic gestures that honor fair maidens. I could see Roald as someone who would deeply despise violence but yet be able to have an appreciation for some tender acts of chivalry.
