I love your vivid midnight-and-ice imagery here - an appropriate tribute to an ancient culture that wasn’t done much justice in canon.

mistrali, thank you so much for reading and commenting! I've always been a fan of midnight-and-ice imagery and it was lovely to be able to incorporate it into this fic, so it makes me so happy that you found the imagery so vivid here. Ever since I read Battle Magic, I felt that Yanjing was just not done justice at all, so I've tried to use some of my own fanfics to add a bit more complexity and richness to Yanjing beyond what exists in the Emelan canon. I wanted to show how ancient and diverse this vast empire could be. How much history and culture is there to be explored. So it was a wonderful little odyssey for me to go on with Jia Jiu:D
