Loved the rich sensory imagery in this - the lamb or mutton, with the very Middle Eastern (or, I suppose, Bazhir) spices. It’s probably a bit sexist of me, but I love fics that have the men spoiling the women. But seriously, in light of the rather patriarchal Bazhir society we were presented with in WWRLAM, it is great to see balanced perspectives and everyone doing their share of the work. Sounds like a particularly Bazhir philosophy to me. I love how you’ve fleshed out (no pun intended) Halef in this series.

mistrali, thank you so much for commenting! I definitely pictured senses really taking center stage in this sentence, so I am happy to hear that you loved the rich sensory imagery and that it was effective for you. I was indeed inspired by some very delicious Middle Eastern spices in terms of the flavoring of the meat Kara cooks for Halef. Middle Eastern spices and flavors can just be so awesome that I can't resist paying tribute to them in Bazhir food. I understand about having a soft spot for fics where the men spoil the women, and hopefully I'll be inspired to write some sentences where men spoil women later on in OSW! Halef has been a joy for me to write this series (what a treat to explore his relationship with Kara!) and I'm so glad that you've appreciated how I've been able to flesh him out in this series. It was a pleasure for me to take a trip to the Southern Desert and hang out with Halef and Kara for awhile! And to discover what their relationship might be like!
