Title: Punishment Rating: G Word Count: 39 words Summary (and any Warnings): Zahir loses his temper during a class. Notes: I was re-reading SotL and found a line where Sir Myles was meant to teach the pages about the Bazhir Wars.
-
Lord Wyldon sends Zahir to work in the armoury for two bells, but Sir Myles's eyes are kind and understanding, and he calls on the Bazhir pages the next time their class discusses "the Bazhir wars (the conqueror's wars)."

You convey so much in this sentence. Very nice job. I could totally picture this story happening and it really shows how divergent and incompatible current conceptions of Tortallan and Bazhir history are. I am not sure any real reconciliation can occur until the Tortallan can admit how fundamentally wrong and unjustified Jasson’s conquest of the desert was. Which would mean no more revering Jasson and no more naming royal kids after him (looking at Jon pointedly here).

I absolutely agree with devil. While Sir Myles is clearly well-intentioned and would be the kind to have a broader perspective on the ‘Bazhir’ wars than most Tortallans, even most Tortallan historians, I agree with devil. I imagine Zahir and his fellow Bazhir classmates would have to water down their words very carefully so as to avoid being inflammatory, which would put them in an awkward spot.
Obviously, lively debates and dialogues aren’t really possible with an issue like this. As devil said, apology is the first step, and then reconciliation, and then reducing inequality.
Punishment indeed!

I always imagined Prince Jasson as really nice (and really good-looking, along with Prince Liam ) and very different to his namesake, thank god! Probably a good thing Roald is nothing like him too.... now I’m wondering if Lianokami will take after him (the power-hungry old king, I mean, not Jon’s son) Plot twist...Edit: I’m not quite sure how I managed to get so sidetracked there 🤭
