Title: Spiced Lamb Rating: PG Word Count: 26 Summary: Shinko remembers the taste of spiced desert lamb. Notes: Part II of my Shinko series. Written for mistrali’s prompt “Bay.” Thanks to mistrali for the inspiration. Spiced Lamb Shinko’s dominant memory of the Great Southern desert was tender lamb spiced with bay leaves, coriander, cumin, and cardamon rare and almost as expensive as saffron.

Sounds like it would melt in your mouth! What a great description of all the spices - especially for Shinko, who would find them far different from the Yamani Islands. Or even of mainstream Tortallan food, probably.

mistrali, thank you so much for commenting! I definitely picture the lamb as being melt in your mouth, and I'm so glad that came through in this piece. I was really hoping that this sentence could be a sort of celebration of spice and flavor, so it makes me so pleased that you thought the description of all the spices was great. I definitely wanted to show Shinko really noticing the flavors of desert food since I think you're right that the spices would be totally different from what Shinko was used to in the Yamani Islands or had tasted in the rest of Tortallan cuisine because I was definitely basing the spices more on Middle Eastern type spices than traditional European flavors which tend to be my go-to for standard Tortallan cuisine.
