Title: Koi Pond Rating: PG Word Count: 34 Summary: Shinko, her brother, and a koi pond in the Yamani Islands. Notes: Part I of my Shinko series. Written for mistrali’s prompt “Pond.” Thanks to mistrali for the inspiration. The trick to make the koi swarm may also be rooted in something my lovely tour guide at the Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland, Oregon taught me, but that’s a story for another time... Koi Pond It was a cruel trick, but Shinko’s brother taught her how to knock the railing of the bridge bowing over the pond so the koi swarmed the surface in red and orange spotted ribbons.

I love this, the lively imagery of the koi swarming the surface, and Shinko's kindness as well.

Seek, thank you so much for commenting! I'm so glad that you loved the lively imagery of the koi swarming the surface (it is a wonderful sight to behold!) and the hints of Shinko's kindness as well. I really enjoyed writing this glimpse of Shinko's childhood in the Yamani Islands, and it makes me so happy that you enjoyed reading it! mistrali, thank you so much for commenting, and I'm so glad you loved the image of the koi!
