Notes: Part III of my Jasson the Conqueror series.
Cursed Sands

This is excellent, and hits hard.

I love this one. I think you've made excellent points about the logic of conquest, and the shift from 'get the ports' to 'crush resistance' makes a great deal of sense! (The contrast between the 'cursed sands' and the 'glistening ports' is amazing as well!)

mistrali, thank you so much for commenting! I'm flattered that you found this to be excellent and hard-hitting because I was hoping to really capture and convey that relentlessness of Jasson's in terms of his determination to break the Bazhir and make them yield to him. Seek, thank you so much for commenting! I'm so happy that you love this story. Our conversation yesterday really inspired me to think about the logic of Jasson's conquest so I'm super grateful for that because I think it in turn sparked the idea for this story. I think of Jasson as being a very effective strategist and commander but also of being in danger of having his passion and stubbornness sort of overtake his logic. Hence he goes from a logical objective of getting access to the ports to a bitter emotional vendetta of wanting to really destroy the Bazhir because they have resisted him in his expansion efforts and that becomes like a personal affront to him and his dignity.
