Title: Owl Hoots Rating: PG Word Count: 27. Summary: Alan of Pirate's Swoop hears an owl hooting.
Owl Hoots
The owl hooted “who, who” into the black night, and Alan of Pirate’s Swoop still didn’t know how to answer that haunting, persistent question of his identity.

This is lovely. ‘haunting, persistent question’ is such good phrasing.

You did not come to play with this sentence! Alan's identity crisis must be getting bad if he's listening to the owl's questions.

mistrali, thank you so much for commenting! I'm so flattered that you found this piece to be lovely because I enjoyed writing about the owl and its hooting. I kind of wanted to write something a little inspired by October and Halloween so the "haunting, persistent" description sort of sprang out of that channeling of Halloween. Tamari, thank you so much for commenting! I agree that it's a sure sign Alan's identity crisis is getting bad when he is hearing it reflected back to him in nature through owl hooting.
