Title: Flow Rating: G Word Count: 30 words Summary (and any Warnings): Zahir submits. Some Bazhir do not. Notes: I feel the Bazhir situation probably - realistically - boils down to some tribes buying into the Tortallan project more than others. The cynical ones will probably read the grants of land/nobility as being useless, and the call for their sons in service as a hostage claim: "We have your sons." I don't think it's really possible to read the situation as being one or the other, because each tribe will have a different relationship to the Crown. -
Alhaz teaches him to follow the path of water, which is why Zahir rides to Corus and kneels to the Northern King rather than resist as the Twin Foxes do.

Yes, yes, yes. I wish SoTL had been longer (or perhaps written later) so that we got some insight into tribes besides the Bloody Hawk. At the same time, having so much unsaid makes it more interesting to delve into the Bazhir in fanfic.

I like that you are exploring the complexity of the Bazhir situation and the relationships of different Bazhir tribes with the Crown since I always felt that was sort of glossed over and underexamined in canon. I hope you write more about the Bazhir, because I'm always happy to read more about the Bazhir and about Zahir.

Thanks guys! Agreed about the Bazhir being complex and interesting to explore - it's clear from SotL there's a lot more going on beneath the surface, and it's great to excavate a little.
