Title: Rebellion Rating: PG-13 Word Count: 24 words Summary (and any Warnings): The Copper Isles are as unstable as always. Notes: This is a partial head-canon from discussions with Alix from ages ago.
-
Exactly a month after the Twice-Royal of prophecy was crowned Queen, the raka slaves of the plantations set them ablaze and went to war.

Not, on the face of it, surprising - I think I vaguely remember either you or Alix planting the idea of the raka being dissatisfied with a half-luarin queen and starting the whole war all over again. Also, a quick correction - there’s a typo from rakka to raka.

You're too generous unfortunately - there's a faction called the Fists of Rakka in another fandom I write for, and code-switching can confuse me! I feel like there are lots of ways for the new status quo to go wrong and I love that we didn't get a sister-Queens or Sarai-Dove team-up, as awesome as that would be. Restorationist luarin and raka, as well as raka nobles who don't actually want a Haiming Queen, and raka slaves who rebelled against luarin slavery and who are still slaves and therefore still angry in the current status quo!

I hadn’t thought of the Haiming Queen or the enslaved raka still being slaves under the new status quo (which would make sense, because, well, getting rid of the Rittevons hardly guarantees a stop to slavery).

I definitely think that it's possible that the Copper Isles, so used to political unrest, could see another revolt especially if many of the raka are still kept as slaves. To slaves, it may very well not matter who sits on the throne if they are still slaves, so if Dove is still allowing slavery, many raka slaves may not support her just because she is half-raka, twice royal, and the one apparently chosen by the Trickster god to rule the Isles.
ETA: General notice to everyone that my spellcheck insists on changing "raka" to "rake" without my knowledge, so I do apologize for any "rake" instances that I don't catch. No offense to the raka intended. Just I have an eager.beaver spellcheck.
