Selfish Player

“My husband, the Crown Prince of Maren, is a selfish man.” Lianne traced an idle finger over Alan’s sweaty chest as they sprawled on silk sheets in her bedchamber. As she scrawled figures over the ridges and valleys of his bare ribs, she remembered summer days at Pirate’s Swoop when she had pouted to him about her siblings hogging toys in the nursery. "He doesn’t like to share his toys—to share me—with anyone.”

“You aren’t a toy.” Alan’s gaze was lion-fierce.

“I’m not?” Lianne’s lips teased his. “But I thought I was so fun to play with…”

I like that Alan is fierce about Lianne not being a toy - it must be nice for her to be seen as just a person by him.

Kypriotha, thank you so much for commenting! Making Alan so adamant that Lianne was not a toy was my favorite part of this story, so I'm so glad that you liked Alan being so fierce about that. I think Lianne is used to being seen as something of a political pawn although she is a princess, so it is very nice and refreshing for her to be seen as a person by him, and that might be a large part of why she loves Alan so much. That he sees her as a person.
