What are you hoping they'll do in terms of plot? Personally I think it would be cool if they either start in Alanna's era or Kel's era.

Oh, wow, I consider this an early Birthday present! I'm so excited for it. I'd be happy with either an Alanna or Kel era tv series. Alanna era stuff might play better on screen, but I was a bigger fan of the Kel era. Truly though I'll be happy with anything!

I saw this and I'm so excited, but also nervous that they're going to ruin it. I would be happy with either Alanna's or Kel's. Or even Beka's, but that would be a very different vibe. I doubt they will do Daine's era, because of the CGI budget they'd need.

I really don't know how to feel about this. On one hand, footage for vidding! On the other, it could potentially be ruined and I really don't want to see that happen to Tortall, especially Kel's story.

I am excited for this because I imagine it would be Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones level, in terms of special effects. I would like to see Alanna's story, even though Beka's era would chronologically come first. Song of the Lioness would have more magic and special effects, maybe. On the other hand, I am also a little worried that it won't be great, like some other book-to-screen adaptations. I would be happy just seeing the characters come alive.

I feel like it might revitalise the fandom, or potentially spaces like this, which is a good thing! I'm not active on Tumblr so maybe she has an active Tumblr fandom, but my impression is that it's largely kinda quiet out there. Kel's or Alanna's would be fine with me - I imagine I'd love to see all the Immortals in Kel's story, which might play well, and Neal would bring the magic too. And also, I can imagine Kel versus killing machines would be really interesting! I feel though that which story they adapt kind of depends on what niche they want to fit. Kel's story, for all it involves a war, ends up having very personal stakes. I'm hoping for it though, especially because I worry about epic fantasy saturation, what with the Wheel of Time, the GoT prequel, and the Kingkiller series all in the works or at least optioned at some point. Oh, and the Witcher. Kel's story strikes me as promising insofar as it's a deviation from the epic mode, so it would be refreshing for new audiences and as a fan, I'd be all over it. And also oh, oh, who are they going to cast?

Oh, man, so keen! I think, somehow, that if it were well made, a PoTS TV series would draw me in more than the books did. It would make the scenes more vivid for me. Don’t ask me why. PotS never quite grabbed me the way Alanna, and particularly AtFA and ITHOTG, did.
I would also love to see Terrier and Bloodhound adapted.
Given I consider SotL the most ‘cinematic’ of the series, I’m sure it will translate beautifully onto the screen (visually), but I hope they do it justice. The series is.. what, over two decades old? And as Seek says, epic fantasy abounds. SotL is fantastic, but there are a lot of Action Girls these days who fall into the same mould. I assume they’ll remove a lot of the white saviour aspects of the series and maybe give the Bazhir a bit more depth?
Agree that Beka or Alanna would be a logical starting point. I sort of hope they don’t do Trickster. Given that it’s a less popular series, maybe they’ll exhaust their budget before they get to it?
Hanging out for an Emelan adaptation, because that would be spectacular. Probably about as likely as finding life on Mars, mind you, but... spectacular

I definitely got the impression that all the Tortall books have been picked up, so I'd really like to see a season or 2 devoted to each series in chronological order - I feel like its super important that Alanna and Daine are introduced before Kel, but that being said, I feel like it would be cool if they started with Beka as kind of like a Prologue, especially since it has a really great balance of magic/non-magic elements.
I agree that I'm concerned that it will get messed up - it's so easy for TV studios to take something that was great and ruin it in the process, and it seems to have happened to a few shows recently. My first reaction to the news was "YES!". My second thought was "Pleeeeeaase don't screw it up!"

I can’t wait! I want Kel’s more but I feel like alanna would be better on tv, especially to start with, it will be more interesting for ppl who haven’t read the books. But in kels era... older raoul and alanna! 🙌🏻 Daine’s would be too expensive and very easy to be a bit pathetic with the animals talking it wouldn’t do it justice, and the actor playing numair... for me it would almost impossible to get a good person. Agree 110% about tricksters
