Title: Power Rating: G [b[Summary:[/b] Thom has always been able to see the Gift in people. A/N: Written for girlcalledsun, prompt 'Thom, and power'. Hoping you like it. ~~~~ All his life, Thom watched for power. At first, he didn’t realise what he was doing: he didn’t even realise he was looking for the Gift. As far as he was concerned, he was just looking at people’s colours and judging how strong they were. Not everybody had colours. Maude’s rusty brown was quite strong; the innkeeper in Trebond village had a flicker of pale blue and there was a hedgewitch with an orange shine to her who lived up near the Gorge. There was a thread of purple in his father, echoed by the bright flames of his own and his twin, the brightest Thom had ever seen. Eventually, Thom grew up and worked out that he was looking at people’s Gifts. He went to the City of the Gods and became accustomed to the strong glow of the Gift in different, distracting colours wherever he went. But he never learned to value skill, subtlety and discretion as much as he did the raw power.

This captures his character so perfectly!
["echoed by...brighter flames" is throwing me off a little though]

Thank you to everyone who commented! ;D
Mirage: I meant it as an adjective, not a comparative... Sorry, it's a bit ambiguous.

Very nice character piece. Great description of how all the different Gifts would appear to a mage as strong as Thom.
