Is anyone else a fan of comedy shows or comedians? Who are your favourites?
I haven't seen much live comedy, although I have seen Spicks and Specks live twice and shows by Ross Noble and Stephen K. Amos, but I do like to watch some comedians on TV if they happen to be on (especially Adam Hills) or an array of British panel shows (i.e. 8 Out of 10 Cats, Cats does Countdown, Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Would I Lie to You...there's a lot of Jimmy Carr in here...).
I was lucky enough to see Icelandic comedian Ari Eldjam at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival on the weekend. He was really funny and it was a great show.

Eddie Izzard is my king. I was introduced to him via French class about 14 years ago because he did some skits in French, and now he does entire shows in French and various other languages. He ran 43 marathons in 51 days for charity. He acts (omg, his turn as Bertie in Victoria and Abdul, also Whisky Galore). Moreover, I've watched other comedians, specifically Michael McIntyre, who got interrupted at one point during a show I was at, and was like, oh, I'll just start from the beginning. And did. Verbatim. Izzard, on the other hand, chooses topics for his shows, but they can run different ways, and he's so clever and wonderful. His Death Star Canteen is hilarious and in Lego on youtube if you haven't seen it (also worth a watch is Cake or Death?). I love him for his calm manner and way of expressing himself ("No, I wear dresses. They're not 'women's dresses'. They're my dresses. I bought them."), and his opinions (paraphrased - "if you're going to call it intelligent design, I want to see two things. 1. Intelligence, 2. Design"), and his politics (Labour!). Panel show-wise, I watch 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown sometimes, a little Would I Lie to You (they got the balance really right here), and the Last Leg (a current events-themed show set up for the Paralympics, which was pretty successful, so they just kept it going). I've been to watch Live at the Apollo, which was good fun. I'd say I favour British comedians, but that's probably just a natural byproduct of being British.

I don't tend to watch many television shows in general on a regular basis, but I do enjoy watching clips from the Colbert Report or skits from Saturday Night Live for a quick five minutes of laughter. Most modern comedy movies don't amuse me that much. I prefer classics like the Little Rascals, the Three Stooges, and Monty Python. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is just about the perfect representation of my sense of humor at least in terms of what I find funny, not how amusing I am.

Ahh how could I forget about The Last Leg?! I used to try to watch it regularly, but it was always on so late here. I loved Adam Hils' Australian talk show (Adam Hill Tonight/Gordon Street). I'm sad that it didn't seem to enjoy the same success as The Last Leg, so didn't last more than a few seasons. Australian TV is sadly very lacking in good comedy shows in the last few years.
