Because I had a whole paragraph on this in the Tortall thread.
I’d give my firstborn for a TV or film version of Circle of Magic, especially. It wouldn’t need a huge CGI budget, the locations are limited (okay, I mean... sort of), and the only difficulty would be in finding skilled child actors with no need for whitewashing (and sticking to the books!).
Assuming it was all good, do you think it would be commercially viable? Would you prefer it as a TV miniseries or a series of films?
What changes would you make to the story, if you were th director? Or would you go the diehard fan route and stay faithful to the source material?

I think the difficulty in an CoM film or series is in that there's no main force the characters are fighting against, which is a necessity for many tv shows. The characters themselves aren't really in contentention with each other and the outside force that presents a problem in each book is different or disconnected.
That being said, I absolutely love found families, like the one we have in CoM so it would be an absolute delight to see a series done right by them.

I have often thought that an animated show for CoM would be amazing, especially along the lines of Ghibli animation. I think it could be beautifully done and really capture the essence of the books. Animation can be expensive, but it would also overcome any isuues of casting, special effects and locations!
