There is the smallest chance that I'm creating this thread because everyone in my everyday life is now sick of me discussing this, buuut... I went to see Adele last week, and it was amazing - she's so excellent and sassy and vibrant. It was a real thrill to see her on stage, and I thought the whole arena was excellently staged, and felt as intimate as one can feel with 96k others. The biggest concert I've ever been to, but also probably the best.
I'm not a big concert-goer in general, so if I go, it's most likely because somebody else has dragged me there. My previous favourite was Nouvelle Vague, and I really wish I'd been able to find their live version of Heart of Glass. I find it's almost impossible not to enjoy a concert, since you're generally there with fans so that even if you're not familiar with the music, you get swept up in all the emotion. Festivals are a bit different for some reason, but perhaps that's because you're more likely to mingle with people who might be ambivalent about the music.
Anyway! Are you a concert-goer? What's the best concert you've been to?

That's awesome! I'm so jealous that you got to see Adele. I love her.
I like concerts for the lights and the singing and the atmosphere, but my ears are sensitive, so it can be hard. My ears usually ring for hours afterward. Plus, the price can be awful for the bigger concerts.
My first concert was Katy Perry, which was very flashy and fun. Selena Gomez, last year, was pretty awesome as well. She's gorgeous!

I would love to see Adele honestly! You're so lucky!
I love concerts so much. My very first was Three Days Grace ft Halestorm, which will always hold a special place in my hearts. Blink 182 was really good live, as well as Mother Mother (indie Canadian rock band), those two are definitely tied for my favourites. I'm going to see Imagine Dragons ft. K.Flay in October, and I'm super excited for it. What other concerts have you been to?

Oh, I'd love to see Imagine Dragons! I bet Katy Perry also puts on a fantastic show.
Adele's definitely the biggest name I've seen solo, though I've been to a couple of festivals and seen some big name acts that way. I think my first concert was either Party in the Park (which is kind of a compilation of different artists) or Good Charlotte - my best friend at the time was a huge fan, and I'm still mildly mortified that I went.

I wouldn't call myself a big concert goer, but I have been to a few that I really enjoyed - Powderfinger's final concert, Matchbox 20 supported by INXS, Missy Higgins - all of which came to my city, which was a nice change from the usual of having to travel to Melbourne or Sydney for any big concerts! And they were all excellent concerts! I saw Live Earth in Sydney, which was lots of fun and my first and only festival type experiences - there were lots of people, but good energy and amazing performances (Crowded House!). My first ever concert was The Wiggles and I won a backpack! Totally awesome

I've only been to two concerts, but they're two of my favourite artists - Muse and Coldplay. Both were absolutely amazing. Muse are just so epic and incredible musicians. Coldplay had a really upbeat, fun vibe. Plus the opener for Coldplay was The Temper Trap, so that was a fantastic bonus! I'd love to see Muse again, plus I'm dying to see The Killers in concert - I noticed they performed at Glastonbury recently and was so jealous. Hopefully they come back to Australia before they ever break up/quit the business.

I'm not a big pop/rock music concert fan - I tend to find the combo of the volume (always so high) and the crowds just kind of unpleasant. That said, I've been to a few. Excluding very local artists, I've been to A Perfect Circle (gosh, I was about 16 then--I don't think I even own any of their music any more), Diana Krall supported by Madeleine Peroux and Melody Gardot (Melody Gardot actually was the best of the three), Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - now that was a real true fan concert with people singing along to Red Right Hand and cheering for Breathless. I've also been to various classical concerts - we've seen violinists Hilary Hahn and Janine Jensen when they were visiting with the NZSO.

My mum and I are trying to make it a yearly thing to see at least one performance by the local symphony orchestra. Saw an excellent Vegas themed show with Rhonda Burchmore at the end of last year.
Next month I'm seeing Kate Miller-Heidke with a string quartet on the lawns by the lake! I'm very excited for it 😄

Oh my God Rhonda Burchmore is still performing? I love her so much!
I haven't been to a concert in years. Going to see the Wizard of Oz when it's here in April though.
