Title: The Research Room Rating: G Word Count: 128 Summary (and any Warnings): Blurb for a modern uni AU. Also a pairing I have so many canonical issues with, omw. Notes/Links: I hope you like the portentous title. Because. If this was an actual novel it’d be totally portentous.
When brilliant, vivacious Veralidaine Sarrasri wins a scholarship to the prestigious University of Tortall, she’s determined to leave the troubles of her past behind her. Her talents are finally being recognised, and she’s won a home and friends unlike any she could ever have laid claim to before. Her genius is quickly noticed by her lecturers, and soon she becomes a research assistant to the rockstar academic Professor Salmalín.
But troubled, unorthodox Numair Salmalín is plagued by shadows of his own; ones he is unwilling to draw his lovely assistant into no matter the chemistry between them.
When a mysterious figure threatens the sanctuary both have come to rely on in UoT, the pair are drawn ever more tightly together in a web of intellect, intrigue, and desire…

*snort* Of course Numair's plagued by shadows. He so would be.
Also I would love to hear more about your canonical issues with this pairing.

Ha, thanks guys! These really are fun to write, aren't they? And wordy, it's just that I don't think the canonical dynamic of their relationship is particularly healthy.

As Kypriotha said, your use of the romance language is impeccable. "Rockstar academic" is exactly how Numair would like to be described if he knew what it meant. And the phrase "drawn ever more tightly together in a web of intellect, intrigue, and desire" is just perfect! If this was a real thing I'd read this in secret and guiltily blush over the inappropriateness of their relationship (sort of like I do with canon, to be honest, ooops ).

Omg, this is so hilariously brilliant! I agree with just how well rockstar academic fits Numair And the title is especially fitting, IMO. You are the master of the Harlequin... o.O

Thank you both! You are the master of the Harlequin... o.O I'm not entirely sure I should be happy with this title, but... for now I'll take it?
