Wishing Tree Prompt: Beka and Farmer's first baby
Summary: Beka knows who she wants to name her first child after.
Notes and Warnings: As I've mentioned, here be spoilers for Mastiff, but if you've read this far you've already been spoiled a bit by the prompt. This is my third 100 word drabble for the Wishing Tree event that I'm not strictly participating in.
Looking at her newborn child for the first time, Beka recalled a conversation with her husband some months back.
"You know I'm usually all about silly names, Beka," Farmer had said, "but we can't name our child 'Pounce'."
Beka had made a face at him.
"I said I wished I could name it after Pounce, not that I wanted to name it 'Pounce', you dolt," she'd replied.
As Beka remembered, inspiration struck her.
"Welcome to the world, Cat," she whispered to her daughter.
"'Cat'? Really!?" Farmer exclaimed.
"Shut your gob, it can be short for 'Cathrin' or something," Beka retorted.
