Title: Tearing at the Seams Rating: PG Word Count: 226 Pairing: Alanna/Jonathan Round/Fight: 1A Summary: The desert is hot and empty and waiting. Inspired by lyrics from “Part of Me” by Katy Perry because apparently Katy is my Jon!tunes of choice.
Even the hot sun, scorching the desert and reflecting off the bits of mica in the sand, couldn’t reach down into the cold fury that had descended on Alanna.
How very dare he?
Straight backed and stiff legged, Alanna strode through the tents and saddled Moonlight with brisk efficiency. The mare snorted, tossing her head at Alanna’s tense, jerking movements.
“Steady, girl,” Alanna murmured as she swung into the saddle, running her hand over the crest of Moonlight’s neck reassuringly. The mare danced on her toes, feeling Alanna’s impatience.
A quick glance over the Bazhir camp reassured Alanna that all was well, and she didn’t pause to take in anymore than was necessary.
…and that’s where we sat, that evening under the stars, and the tent we shared, and where we sat around the evening fire, and…
Alanna urged Moonlight into a gallop, hooves chewing at the sand and sending it flying in their wake as they leapt forward.
She didn’t need Jon and his assumptions and his dignity and his self-righteousness and—
The wind of their passing tore tears from Alanna’s eyes, leaving tracks across her cheeks and back into her hairline. Straightening up in the saddle even as Moonlight surged into a faster gait, Alanna threw her arms out and turned her face to the sun, shrilling a blood-curdling war cry to the sky.

Jon is such a butt. I love how Alanna gets out her frustrations, by riding into the desert screaming a war cry. You write a great Alanna.

I love this part, most of all. I think it's a very beautiful way to end this fic!
