Series: A Year in the Life Title: Impressions Rating: PG-13 Event: Tasty Triple Jump Words: 206 Summary: Rosethorn is not impressed with Crane's banana. AN: Thanks to Carbon Kiwi for the prompt. I don't think she meant for me to do this with it though.
Crane arrived at Discipline cottage carefully cradling his newest plant. It was the fruit from a bush that had been sent from a tropical island. He had the literal fruit of his labor carefully wrapped in a white cloth. He burst into the main room without bothering to knock on the door.
Rosethorn and Lark were sitting at the table talking, but they turned as he entered. Rosethorn got up, grabbed Crane’s habit, and began pulling his to the door, “What have we told you about knocking? We are trying to run a civilized household here.”
Lark, however, just set a hand upon Rosethorn’s arm saying, “You have made your point, Rosie. I’m sure Crane had a reason for bursting in here.”
“Yes, I did,” replied Crane. “Look!”
He thrust the small package at his fellow green mage. She took it and opened the package to reveal a small yellow fruit and asked, “Well, what is it?”
Crane replied, “It’s a banana.”
Lark asked, “Did you say this was called a banana?”
“Yes, I did.”
Rosethorn carefully studied the fruit, then responded, “Well, whatever you call it. I’ve seen better. I would have been sure that a green mage such as yourself could have grown better.”

So this is what you were talking about, Elscy! Hilarious. You have a few typos though: “You have made your point, Rosie. I’m sure Crane had a reason for bursting in here.” He thrust the small package at his fellow green mage.

Thanks, I fixed them. I tend to read over things like that even days later.

Awwwr, it's adorable! Crane so excited over one little banana plant, and Rosie completely squashing him on the idea. Loved him not knocking and her trying to drag him out the door. I especially love Lark's confusion over the name of the fruit. :B Yes, banana is an incredibly odd name... So glad you wrote the prompt! Thanks!

The summary made me stop, reread and then laugh out loud. The story was cute; I liked the idea and she was definitely true to form (aka snarky).

Oh, my. I didn't manage to get past the summary without giggling. That should be an SSSP there. And the last line is love.
