Series: The Dedicate and the Seer Title: Dirty Little Secret Rating: PG Event: Light-hearted Long Jump Words: 239 Summary: Crane tries to surprise Niko, but is surprised himself when he uncovers Niko's secret.
Crane let himself into Niko’s rooms. His aristocratic side had debated about this course of action all the way across the temple grounds. It was not seemly for a man of his upbringing to enter another man’s chambers uninvited. But, his other side had argued, Niko did it all the time to him. It was only fair that he be the one to do the surprising for once.
As he closed the door behind him, Crane heard a gasp and a crash. He turned around quickly, half expecting to find an intruder, as he was sure Niko wasn’t home. When he finished turning around and discovered that he was, in fact, home, he wasn’t sure who was more surprised – him or Niko.
Although...along with Niko’s surprise was a hint of...shame?
Crane, one eyebrow raised in confusion, stared blankly at Niko until he registered what was in his hand. A tea pot. But it wasn’t a tea pot. Crane looked at Niko’s feet, where a broken cup lay amidst a dark stain. Both of Crane’s eyebrows immediately retreated into his hair line.
“Coffee?! You’re drinking coffee?”
Niko spluttered, a red blush creeping up his neck and filling his cheeks. Crane’s shock slowly subsided to be replaced with mirth.
“Well,” Crane drawled. “Now I’ve discovered your dirty little secret, what will you give me to keep me quiet?”
Niko’s blush deepened as Crane’s smile spread.
“You’re so adorable when you’re embarrassed."

*LEGASP* Coffee?? ;D This is adorable. I love Niko and Crane's dialogue, which, if I hadn't read your imagery, I would say was your greatest skill in writing this pairing.
And this line is perfect. It was not seemly for a man of his upbringing to enter another man’s chambers uninvited. So Crane.

Yep! (I'm such a tea snob - it's even coming through in my fics now! ) But your prompt worked so well for this, so thank-you for it And thanks for the review! This one wasn't really good for imagery, so I'm glad you liked the dialogue
