He trudges wanly in from training, his injured arm smarting somewhat, and spots the note and parcel almost immediately; the fluid elegance of the handwriting is as familiar to him as the worn grooves of his own sword hilt.
Wyl,
I miss you terribly. I am enclosing a pot of balm for your arm – I know you will not use it, but I feel better in the knowledge that it is with you anyway.
Vivenne
He reads, and it seems momentarily to ease his harshly lined face.
*
Vi,
Your supposition is entirely correct.
Wyldon

This is great, especially for being so short!
My favorite line was in Vivienne's letter. I am enclosing a pot of balm for your arm – I know you will not use it, but I feel better in the knowledge that it is with you anyway. This made me smile, and it really sums up my head-canon of Vivienne and Wyldon's relationship.

This is really lovely. The way that you flesh out a very minor (do we ever even see Vivienne?) character by the tiny hints we get is fantastic.

I have to agree with what everyone else has said. your ability to use subtext and minor characters is fantastic!
