“I can’t believe you found this place!” Cythera said and reached her hand out to touch the old, exposed wood. She stumbled slightly in the near darkness.
“Let me take care of that,” Jon said and reached out to steady her with his hand while making a light with his magic in the other. As a blue light filled the room, Cythera looked down at her hand, which Jon still grasped tightly. Noticing her gaze, Jon dropped it.
“What do you think they used this for?” She asked, inspecting the ground.
“Spies used it to sneak into the castle, I think. It looks like the passageway goes all the way beyond the castle.”
“Wow,” Cythera murmured. She looked back up at him. “How many people know about this?”
“Not very many,” Jon replied. “You, me, Gary, Raoul...” Noticing the look of awe on her face, Jon couldn’t stand to deceive her anymore. “Actually,” he said, “Gary found it last year. They had used it to store wine.”
She paused, taking in his confession, and raised her eyebrows. “Do you bring every girl here then?”
Jon smiled. “Only the ones I can trust,” he said, reached forward and suddenly dipped her. Cythera shrieked, but when he leaned forward to kiss her she didn’t resist.
