Title: Repercussions Rating: PG Prompt: #60: an equal and opposite reaction Summary: *MASTIFF SPOILERS* Beka fixes what is broken.
There were repercussions for what he had done. There was procedure, and chatter, and finally, there was paperwork. And as Beka wrote the reports, signed the papers, accepted the money, and the thanks and the apologies and the questions, Farmer was there, being safe and stolid and tangible. She thanked the gods for his tangibility. She had seen what reaching for something you thought was higher than you did. You reached too far, and you toppled. He had nearly toppled the kingdom, and she would right it. He had tried his hardest to elevate herself, and she would stay at Jane Street. He had taken a child from the world, and… …and unbeknownst to her, she would soon bring one into it.

Ooh, excellent! Great use of the prompt. I can totally imagine Beka trying to remain in control and methodical once she gets back to her Dog work. The ending's great!

Thanks--Mastiff was really fresh in my mind when I read the prompt, so I thought immediately of that.

I like all the different opposites you bring into it - gives a really nice balance to this piece!
