Message: This little scene bit me when I was trying to fall asleep, so I just had to get up and write it. Happy holidays!
From: Allie
Title: Homecoming Rating: G Word Count: 183 Wishlist Item: #1 Cooper family Summary: The world is changing under us.
“Does a knight ever really come back home?”
The question, asked so tenderly by her brother, shocked Aly. “Of course he does!” she retorted, wondering what was bothering her brother who had always been so sure of his intended profession.
“But what he knew as home has changed. It’s different after months, years. You can’t ever really go back.”
Aly rolled onto her side to face Alan. They lay alone on the grass, the stars shining sharply above them. “What do you mean change?”
Alan shrugged. “Things happen. People change all the time. And if people are changing, what isn’t?”
Crickets chirped, filling the silence. “Are you having doubts?” she whispered.
“No. Maybe. I don’t know.” He looked at Aly. “Whatever this is I’m feeling, it doesn’t change anything.” She nodded seriously, understanding her twin. A breeze ran through the air and she shuddered. Feeling her cold as if it were his own, Alan stood and offered Aly his hand. “It’s getting late. Let’s go inside.” She took Alan’s hand and stood, wondering if there was any truth to what was testing him.

This is wonderful, thank you There's something about it which just rings so true, not just as a knight's idea of home but of anyone's idea of home, and the way it then comes full circle with Aly is beautiful, as is the little bit of twin ESP at the end.

This is equal parts sad and sweet, particularly in light of knowledge of TC/TQ.

Loved this moment between them. Great work here, especially since we don't see them interact in canon and you managed to make it so believable.

I love the dynamic between Aly and Alan that you've captured here; how in sync they are, yet how they still have their own personalities and dreams and doubts.
