To: gear Message: Your appreciation for this pairing is slightly contagious. I hope you like the fic! From: Em Title: Positive Tension Rating: G Words: 212 Wishlist Item: 1. Keth/Dema Summary: This new life takes some adjusting to.
Work had been slow in Tharios after the killings had stopped; forming his investigative team had been a delicate process, and the advancements that they were making with the new forensic mages meant even more long, sleepless nights. Ordinarily, he would have been enthused by the work, but before now he had never really had anything but his job to consider. The sky outside was starting to colour again and his eyelids were drooping when he registered Keth’s presence in the doorway. “I’m sorry,” Dema said, rubbing his eyes and shuffling about some of the papers on his desk. “I hadn’t intended to stay up so late.” “So early, I think you mean.” Keth raised a pale eyebrow, though Dema could tell that he wasn’t exactly amused. Dema sighed. “Yes, I know.” The glass mage walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder, thumb digging into the tense muscles. Dema could already feel his eyes closing at the touch, having fought off sleep for far too long, and then there was a hot breath near his ear and, “Go to bed.” And Dema does, wandering into the bedroom, half-blind with exhaustion; the last thing he remembers before he drops into darkness is the familiar stroke of Keth’s hand on his back.

I love that little scene between them. It shows how utterly relaxed and casual (for now!) they are around each other.

I'm thrilled to have infected you Wordy (or possibly Prince Jasson?)!
This is wonderful. It's everything that Keth/Dema should be - sweet, adorable, and above all real. They're both human. Keth gets annoyed, Dema's exhausted, they go through things that all couples go through, and you write it wonderfully. Thank you so much!
