Title: All I Want For Christmas
Rating: PG
Words: 259
Wishlist Item: 1. Alex/Gary
Summary: Apparently it hadn’t been meaningless, after all.
Gary is digging in his pocket for the key that he swears was in there just a moment ago, when he glances up and sees a familiar pair of black boots on the doorstep of his building, and, as he looks up further, an even more familiar person wearing them.
“Hey,” says Alex, sounding a little bit embarrassed. His nose is pink from the chilly air, a sweet contrast against his dark eyes and the two days of stubble lining his jaw.
“Hey,” says Gary back, mostly because he’s a little lost for words. It’s not every day that your crush turns up on your doorstep. Not in real life, anyway.
“I think we should try this,” Alex says. Gary’s heart thumps in his chest. The curve of Alex’s smile is tentative, and he remembers the feeling of pressing his mouth to those lips, stubble scraping his chin and gentle fingers in his hair.
Despite himself, despite the fact that only a few days ago Alex had as good as said that he wasn’t interested in anything serious, Gary can feel his own mouth twitching up into a smile. He twists the end of his scarf in his hands, an odd feeling rising in his chest. “Yeah?”
Alex is up and moving towards him before he has time to think, time to do anything but meet him halfway, gloved hands circling around his waist and breathing the cold air into his mouth. He tastes like cigarettes and coffee, and Gary can’t help smiling because, yeah, they’re actually trying this.
