Alex gazed at himself in the dressing room mirror. Sometimes he had to pinch his arm, just to make sure this was real. He was, after all, living his dream. He loved the life of a performer; the music, the tours, the awards shows - even the insane costumes. He lived and breathed it all. There was something awesome about the way he inspired his fans, and the reach his music had; not every schmuck had sold 20 million albums.
He straightened in the chair, mentally running over his pre-show checklist. He had been primped, plucked and spandexed. His heavy stage makeup was perfection. His voice was ready, and he’d limbered up for the show. There was only one last thing to do. He reached over and gently picked up his wig, settling it down with the ease of someone who wore a lot of headdresses.
There was a knock at the door. “Yes?” Alex called. “Who is it?”
“Francis, the stage manager,” came the reply. “Ten minutes until we’re ready for you, Lady Gaga.”
