"Come on Lia!" Vania cried, throwing herself from the saddle.
"I just don't think this is such a good idea," Lianne protested, gracefully dismounting.
Kalasin laughed, already out of her boots and stockings, bare toes wriggling in delight. "It will be fine, Lianne. Besides, it's hot. Don't you want to cool down?"
"Of course," Lianne frowned at her sisters, "I just think there are more sensible - and more appropriate - ways to do it!"
Kally scoffed, "Perhaps you'd rather find some handsome young knight to fan you and bring you chilled juice?"
"Perhaps I would!" Lianne snapped, pulling a rug from her saddle bag to sit on. "There's nothing wrong with behaving appropriately for your station, Kally!" Lianne crossed her arm, more flustered that usual by the heat. "What would father say if he -"
She was cut off as Vania went racing by her, dressed only in her chemise, and with a war cry threw herself into the water, sending droplets flying at her older sisters.
Resurfacing she flicked her hair back laughing. "If you too are done talking, you should get in here!" She let herself sink so only her face was above the rippling surface of the pool. "The water is amazing."
Kally and Lianne, glanced at each other momentarily, before looking with longing at the clear water, and their sister floating there in pure bliss.
"Last one in's a Corus flowerseller!" Kally challenged.
Lianne gasped. "Kally, you can't say that!"
But Kally was already half out of her gown, laughing as she tugged it over her head.
Lianne was certainly not a flowerseller, and she would not be called one. She was a Conte! A princess of Tortall!
Lunging forward she grabbed the laces on Kally's dress as it was halfway over her head. Pulling them tight she knotted them, trapping her sister within the layers of silk.
Then, laughing, she slipped out of her own gown and leapt into the chill water, crying out at the first bite of cold.
Kally finally freed herself from the confines of the dress and glowered at her siblings, happily splashing about.
"Excuse me miss?" Lianne called, "Do you have a pretty flower for me today?"
"Yeah!" Vania cried, "Show us your wares!"
Kally loftily raised an eyebrow before running at the water and, tucking into a ball, sent a wave of icy water over the younger girls' heads.
