Title: A Soft Centre

Summary: Clary and Tom.
A/N: For Figgs.
Tomlan swatted at Clary's hand with a frown as she popped the pastry in her mouth. "I'm not going to keep making them if you keep doing that," he said, raising an eyebrow.
Clary just licked her fingers and leaned across the table to press a sticky kiss against his cheek. "Maybe that's a good idea. Then I won't have to keep having my uniform adjusted."
It was impossible to be annoyed at his wife for long. Or, at all, really. His eyes fell to her belly, the way it pressed against the front of her tunic. His throat got tight, like it always did, and his own belly felt as if hundreds of butterlies had just taken flight.
She noticed his expression and smiled. "Oh, Tom."
He was around the table and had her in his arms before she could let out so much as a squeak, grinning against her neck. She liked to tease him about being sentimental, but he was past caring. He already knew that he'd probably cry like a fool the day their child was born.
Eventually, Clary pulled out of his arms. Her face was bright with held back tears. "I know I've been talking about the baby a lot," she said. "But, Tom, you're really the only sweetness I've ever needed."
