Title: Natural Things Rating: PG Character: Aniki Event: 110 Hurdles Words: 110 Summary: Aniki makes a decision.
She couldn’t stay, that was plain. This village was too small — always had been, and doubly so now. If they hadn’t been caught, herself and the miller’s daughter, she could have stayed through winter.
No matter. They had been.
She was no farmer, no trapper; had no magic, and now no prospects as a wife. Nothing for her here.
Better to announce her plans and ask a blessing, or sneak out in the dark of night?
Neither, she decided at last. She’d pack her things and walk out in daylight, as though leaving the village — maybe leaving Scanra entirely — was the most natural thing.
It was.

This is one of those delightful short pieces where you're guiding the reader's imagination to fill in the blanks - great look at Aniki, and I feel like walking on would have been natural for her.

Thanks! I think she always does what's natural to her.

I think the brilliance of this piece predominantly rests in the title, because it makes everything so common sense.

AND she ends up with a hot girlfriend, with a bit of skanky boy on the side. *sticks tongue out at the villagers.*
