Title: You Do Not Like Me? (Con Un Vezzo All’Italiana Part 4)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 256 (lyrics and translations not included)
Pairing: Dom/Evin
Round/Fight: 2/A
Summary: In The Italian Style Part Four; Evin keeps trying. Inspired by Mozart's Song Con Un Vezzo All'Italiana from the play La Finta Giardiniera, because I'm awesome like that.
“Would you care to dance?” A shy voice at his elbow shook off Dom’s banquet-induced haze, and he turned to face the speaker. A petite girl with blonde hair, she gaze up at him from under her lashes and grinning good naturedly, Dom offered his arm.
“I’d be much obliged, milady,” he returned in a mildly teasing tone as he escorted her onto the dance floor.
Three turns and a promenade into the dance, Dom’s attention was diverted as he glimpsed Evin through the throngs of people, on the side of the dance floor. Choking on his laughter, Dom’s dance partner looked up at him in askance. Held helpless in his mirth, Dom pointed inconspicuously at Evin, around whom a little scene was unfolding.
A brunette, eyeing him in consternation, withdrew her hand from his amorous grasp.
“Non vi piace, non va bene?” Evin asked plaintively, his hand following hers as he reached beseechingly out to the lady. Warily, she paused, and Evin took advantage of the moment to continue. “Via, proviamo alla francese:” His hand moved to his chest. “Ah, madame de tout mon cour, votre serviteur.”
The dramatics were too much for him, and Dom was near tears by the time his dance ended and he could steer his partner to the edge of the dance floor. “Ah, I’m sorry,” he gasped out, but the lady on his arm sported a grin as large as his.
“I take it she has no idea what he’s saying?” she asked, tiltiing her head in the direction of Evin’s romantic fumblings.
“Well, yes, that and the fact that he’s a love struck idiot,” Dom agreed.
*("Non Via piace, non va bene? Via, proviamo alla frances;" translates from Italian as "You do not like me? Here, I'll try in French:" and "Ah, madame de tout mon cour, votre serviteur" translates from French as: "Ah, madam of all my heart, I am your servant")
