Title: Geometry Rating: G Word Count: 219 Pairing: Jon/Zahir – Team Bend-a-lot Round/Fight: 1A Summary: Jon gives a lesson in geometry and architecture.
:::
“Sire, why is everything straight here?” Zahir asked Jonathan once they were alone in the rooms the kind had been offered.
“By that you mean...” Jonathan prompted.
“All the streets, the fields, even the interiors of houses- they’re all straight lines. I’m just wondering why is it so.”
The kind smiled. “Must I keep reminding you, Zahir? You have to be specific. But this is no time for a lecture, now is it?” The king paused and moved to the window. He looked at the fields below, all of which were a similar rectangular shape. “You’re going to see lots of different fiefs on Progress, Zahir, all of which have different influences and styles. The man who oversaw the building of this fief was heavily interested in organization. They say all is quite efficient here.”
“If the system works well, Sire, why weren’t more places built like this? The palace, for example?”
Jonathan turned towards his squire. “First off, the palace was built long before this land was explored and the system devised. Even so, just think of how dull this land would feel after some time. Efficient, yes. But as a place to live, it is far less interesting.” He paused and chuckled. “I’m sure the children here have a far more difficult time playing games and hiding.”

For some reason, I almost guttered this. But I love this! Interesting discussion - and of course, Zahir would follow the king on progress, wouldn't he?
