Summary: Jon debates the future of his realm.
“Do you believe in destiny?” Jon's voice was quiet, almost in awe, watching the waves lap at the beach. The water pulled at his feet as it slunk back into the ocean, like a cat who had finished its stretch.
“Of course,” Zahir replied simply, rolling up his pant legs and stepping into the icy water. Somehow, he thought he'd never be warm again, in this cold land of pines and frost. Even in summer, it was cold.
“Hmm.” Jon crossed his arms and shrugged off his feeling of foreboding. There was nothing to do but wait. “Now, tell me why it would be foolish to attack Pirate's swoop from this side.” He turned to his squire and listened, hoping that he could trust Zahir and his classmates with the future.
Not like he had any choice, though.
