Title: Goes Around
Rating: G
Word Count: 132
Pairing: Lark/Rosethorn
Round/Fight: 2/B
Summary: What goes around, goes around, goes all the way back around~ [Justin Timberlake]
Niva sniffed and rubbed her already dirty habit across her nose. Children were mean, she realized, though she’d never thought so before. She had been useful in her village, before she came here. Her farm had been profitable, even if her family hadn’t been the best of sorts. Niva hadn’t expected the children here to dislike her. Even more, she hadn’t expected to care.
Kicking a rock on the path, Niva stopped at her favorite place to hide- a secluded bench. Hopping onto it, she swung her legs as she thought.
She didn’t even notice the other girl approaching- though she was older than her, from all appearances. She had to be new, Niva didn’t think she’d ever seen her before. “This is MY spot,” she declared.
The other girl looked unruffled as she shrugged and gave an easy smile. “Can I share it?” She fiddled with her novice habit, looking uncomfortable and out of place in it. “My name’s Iress.”
Niva narrowed her eyes, looking over her. “I guess so, Iress. But we’re not friends.” Iress sat next to Niva, kicking her own legs, her toes pointed gracefully, where Niva felt like all knees and elbows. Wiping her nose again, smearing dirt across it, she conceded just a little: “I’m Niva.”
“Okay, Niva. We don’t have to be friends right now.” Niva narrowed her eyes and let the silence sit. That sounded suspiciously like they would eventually become friends. Silly girl. Once she realized no one liked her, she would turn too. They all did.
