Title: Crack Rating: PG13 Word Count: 168 Pairing: Rosethorn/Lark Round/Fight: 2B Summary: Sandry knows exactly when she noticed that Rosethorn and Lark were lovers. First in the Realizations series.
Sandry knows exactly when she noticed that Rosethorn and Lark were lovers. It was during Rosethorn’s illness, when she found Lark sobbing over her broken, torn, cracked charm. As she stepped silently back out of the room to leave Lark in peace, she was hit with a deluge of memories: Lark hugging Rosethorn when she came back from quarantine, Rosethorn laughing at something Lark had said, Lark and Rosethorn working in perfect tandem to cook a meal, Rosethorn gripping Lark’s shoulder tightly during the pirate attack, offering silent comfort, Lark calling Rosethorn Rosie. All these events are platonic by themselves, but Sandry sees the truth now. She doesn’t say anything to the others; if their foster mothers wanted them to know, they would have told them, and Lark doesn’t need the torrent of questions that would undoubtedly follow if she told her siblings. Sandry does wish that she had realized it earlier, when she could have been glad for the pair, not while Lark’s other half lies dying.

All those little moments are what make Lark and Rosethorn sweet. The last line is gorgeous.

I love the concern Sandry suddenly has for Rosethorn through Lark's eyes - as Lark's other half. Reading this story reminded me of reading the original books and all the similar clues I gathered before my final (and gleeful) 'ahhah!' moment. Beautifully done! The last line is absolutely brilliant.
