Title: Partners

Summary: Clary has to come to terms with her new partner, and she is not happy about it.
The second in a series of Firsts.
The first time she was partnered with Matthias Tunstall, she almost wanted to strangle the desk sergeant. The man looked so smug when he handed down the pairing and the rest of the room snickered so much that by the time they were on the street, she was red with shame.
She hadn’t spoken to the Barbarian (as she had come to think of him) since about a year before, when his last attempt to flirt had ended with him violently meeting the wall of the training yard. So, as he smirked walking onto the street, she couldn’t help but want to punch him. “Isn’t this going to be fun?”
All she did was grumble in return.
It was only a week later that she noticed he wasn’t nearly as obnoxious, or slow, as he seemed. He had a cat like grace that allowed him to catch even the quickest of cut purses and an eye that noticed things even she missed. Still, she didn’t like him, even if she no longer thought of him as a worthless, good for nothing, un-caring Hillman.
Even if he did have an enchanting accent.
