“Ahuda said you were sick,” Clary called, letting herself into Mattes’s house. “Are you in bed?”
There was no response, so she headed straight for Mattes’s bedroom, and found him shivering under the covers. “Shouldn’t you be on patrol?” he asked weakly
“Got another hour yet,” she replied, crawling into bed with him, ignoring his protests. “Thought I’d come and see if I could make you feel better. Brought you food.”
He inspected the package with suspicion. “Who are you on patrol with?”
“Grunning,” she groaned, pulling a face. “Get better quick, Mattes, or make me ill. Don’t care which.”
