Summary: Clary loves spring.
Clary smiled as they walked hand in hand down the street. “I love spring,” she murmured. She felt happy and carefree, despite the dangerous hunt that had brought them here.
“Me too,” answered Mattes. “We don’t have it in the desert.” He stopped them both and tucked an arm around Clary’s waist as he reached up to pluck a stem of blossoms from the tree above them. He tucked them into her hair and then admired them. “You look beautiful,” he told her, his voice a deep rumble.
Clary blushed as pink as the blossoms. She hesitated a moment, and then remembered that they were supposed to be pretending to be lovers. She smiled and stood on tiptoe to press her lips against his.
