Summary: “We’re both in the same place, really.” An Ersken-y fic for Em.
Mattes scowled at the younger Dog, making sure that Clary didn’t see him do it. It was bad enough that Westover was younger and had that baby face that mots thought was sweet, but to top it all off, Clary had smiled at him. She wasn’t supposed to do that, only to Mattes and Tom, and only to Mattes when other people weren’t around.
Clary strode off, seemingly oblivious to his frustration, and an awkward silence fell between Mattes and the younger Dog.
“We’re both in the same place, really,” offered Ersken after a long silence. “I think we both know that it’s Master Goodwin that’s always going to have her heart.”
