Summary: In the snow, even the fearsome Clary becomes a child again.
There were very few times that Mattes saw Clary being “girly”. One of these however, was the first snow of every year. No matter how much he hated the white stuff, she loved it and would spin in little circles when it first came down.
They had been partners for only a month when the first snow came. They had been sitting at dinner when it came blowing in the door and she ran outside grinning wildly and, dare he say it, squealing. He followed her, worried about her sanity, let alone her safety and found her dancing in the square, right beside the town children.
It was then that it hit him that she was really beautiful, as her hair lit in the streetlamps and she stuck her tongue out to taste the cold air and the white flakes. Laughing, though, had been a bad move on his part, as he quickly learned exactly what a snowball could do to one’s disposition.
