Title: Flames Rating: PG Wordcount: 138 Pairing: Team Girl Power (Buri/Thayet) Round: 1/B Summary: It's almost Thayet's wedding, and Buri isn't happy.
-
“I can’t believe you’re actually going through with this!” Buri does not look good clothed in the Conte colors. She is much more suited for deep reds and bronze, warm colors that remind Thayet of fire and mountain sunsets. “It’s an atrocity. Even more than that, it’s a lie.”
“There will always be room for you in my heart,” Thayet says. Blue embroidery twists up her count, and silver glints at her neck, ears, and forehead. “You know that.”
“I’m the only one there,” Buri spits. “You aren’t going to push me aside for Jonathan.”
“You’re right. I’m not.” Thayet picks up her bouquet. “Come, it’s almost time. You need to calm down and breathe, please, because this is happening in a matter of minutes.”
Buri follows the soon-to-be queen’s exit, the fire in her eyes still raging.

I love the freedom you write between them that allows Buri to never keep herself in check. It's so real and canonical, but somehow feels more significant in your hands.
