“You’re pregnant,” Buri points out when Thayet creeps into her bedroll during training camp. “You shouldn’t be with the Riders right now, let alone in bed with me.”
“I’m not too far along. It’s safe.” Thayet tosses her head, a haughty look in her eye. “Of course, the midwife assumed I was talking about my husband when I asked her.”
“Yes, your husband.” Buri’s mouth twists, but she doesn’t say anything else. “Well.”
“So you’ll let me stay?” Thayet sends her a sly look. “It’s cold outside.”
“You’re not fooling anyone, you know,” Buri sighs, but lets Thayet pull her body close and leans in for a soft kiss.
