Title: Musings
Rating: G
Word Count: 249
Pairing: Kel/Maura
Round/Fight: 1/C
Summary: Kel returns from the page’s summer camp.
KM R1: Musings, G
Kel was taller. Of this, Lalasa was certain, though there was no surprise. She teased her about it as she helped the girl unpack the scant belongings the training master had allowed the pages on their summer training, but there was something else different about her that had nothing to do with her height.
She had learned long ago that one had to goad answers from Kel, so she assailed her with questions about the time spent traveling. Was there any danger? No - not so much excitement as her first two summers, to be sure. Had the boys acted properly? Yes - at least as properly as they ever acted towards her. Had she met anyone interesting?
And suddenly, no goading was necessary. In one less self composed, Lalasa would have called it “chattering”. She was surprised, but kept her mouth closed, letting Kel take the time she needed to work out whatever she was saying for herself.
“She’s kept her fief since she was a child - fought her own family for the Crown! She has an ogre for a keeper, and a wolf!” The girl shook her head, cheeks flushed as she murmured to the sparrows who stayed behind, “Can you imagine that?”
“No my lady,” Lalasa murmured, though she spoke more to the thought crossing her mind than the statement. Thinking of Tian, and the way she herself had acted around her, Lalasa couldon't help but wonder if she and Kel were more similar than she had thought.
